Tord Boontje, born in 1968 in Enschede, Holland studied industrial design at the Eindhoven Design Academy and at the Royal College of Art in London. After completing his studies he opened his own design studio in London in 1994. His designs are shown in some of the most prestigious institutions in the world. For example the Tate Modern Gallery in London and the legendary Moss design store in New York. Tord Boontje is the proud winner of many international design awards. With his mix of fantasy poetry and digital optic, Boontje is responsible for an important new trend in contemporary design. His products tell the stories of a fantasy world of unicorns, deer and elves. These images are as characteristic of his work as his unmistakeable flowing, twisting flower and petal patterns. With a computer aided process he applies his fables to products of daily use.
